Why some pages don’t belong on Google
When Google scans your site, it uses a limited crawl budget. This is essentially, a cap on how many of your pages it will crawl and rank. If you’ve got dozens of irrelevant or unhelpful pages indexed, they take up space and attention that should be going to the ones that matter.
That means your blog, services page, or homepage might get less visibility...
Because your thank you page or privacy policy is in the way.
This is where ‘noindexing’ comes in, a small setting with a big impact.
What should you hide from search?
If a page isn’t meant to attract traffic or rank on Google, hide it.
Common examples to set as noindex or hide from search results include:
Privacy Policy
Terms & Conditions
Thank You pages
404 Error pages
Temporary promo or offer pages
Branded Linktree-style pages duplicated elsewhere
💡 Using Squarespace? Open the page settings and toggle ‘Hide page from search results.”’This is the same as applying a noindex tag.
